The meeting will be in the format of a panel discussion with our candidates from Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. They will speak on their experiences throughout the election, during which the SEP has been alone in campaigning in key working-class areas on the real issues that are being concealed by every other party.

As the SEP has insisted throughout, the official election is a sham and a fraud. Labor, the Liberals, the Greens and the media are covering up the reality that whatever the outcome on May 3, events in this country will be determined by the massive breakdown of global capitalism.

In the US, Trump is seeking to establish a fascistic dictatorship. His global economic war marks the definitive end of the post-World War II arrangements of trade, diplomacy and geopolitics. Trump, however, is only a symptom of a deeper crisis which is leading to a return to the conditions of the 1930s everywhere, from mass poverty, to genocide, trade war and ultimately, a catastrophic world war.

These developments, not the paltry and false campaign promises of Albanese and Dutton, will set the imperatives for the next government. Those imperatives are set out in the financial press every day: massive austerity targeting wages, education and healthcare, and an unprecedented boost to military spending in preparation for war, especially with China.

Every other party, including the Greens and the fake-left Socialist Alliance and Victorian Socialists, is seeking to conceal this reality from workers and youth. Yet again, they are peddling the lie that the pro-war, big-business Labor Party is a lesser evil.

The SEP alone has told the truth: The decisive question is building an independent movement of the working class, based on a socialist program directed against the entire political establishment and the capitalist system.

Come to the meeting to find out about our perspective and participate in this crucial discussion!
